Sarcasm, in newsgroups? Noooooooooooooooooooooo, never!

I am not aware of any sarcasm police we can call on but the subject is covered by various 'netiquette' guidelines where it always discouraged. I don't know what to tell you except if you wish to encourage someone to alter the tone in their future posts, by all means do so.

Yes I for one do.
It is entirely reprehensible to be in any way sarcastic or condescending to people who in all innocence and with no clue whatsoever decide to overwrite their PCs without reading the instructions or warnings first.
These people are VICTIMS and it is our duty as voulenteer responders to be as poilte, helpful and supportive as possible in order to ease the pain and loss suffered by the unfortunate victims of an ill advised upgrade.
Also we should give all possible aid to those confused as to how a DVD is burnt from an ISO file and should scour the net to find suitable drivers for the various hardware problems, and if possible e mail said drivers, fixes etc along with hand written full instructions in very simple language directly to them.
One day we will all be rewarded in heaven and maybe even get MVP status.
Irony is much bigger and cleverer, outright abuse has its place but sarcasm is just plain lazy.

I think it is group mentality where if some one walks into the middle of a conversation and is not caught up, he or she gets flamed. And the discussions have been on for a while.

I don't understand all these fancy words and nuances they imply but you have a shred of the First Amendment in the country where the server resides for these groups. The rest of them were gutted years ago. If you mean people using a Beta and people generally saying in a number of ways if they don't know x, y z they shouldn't be using it, I'm not to hung up on that, realizing that in every version of Windows MSFT has positioned the beta OS as a fake software aphrodisiac to drum up interest, particularly when they have strong indicators that sales are going to be considerably lower than they expected and the stock is currently in free fall.
MSFT has witheld documentation in a wide number of areas, releasing a Beta to the public without it so these comments about reading this and that before using the Beta ought to be tempered by the fact that most of the public has very little decent to read on using it and in a number of areas neither do the so-called TBTs.

No pay Bill but you can sign yourself off as "Official NG Philosopher" and instead of answering questions offer words of wisdom that have sod all to do with PCs in any way. You could use the word "Vista" as a sort of base theme.

I did a thesis (about 150 pages) on GBS (George Bernard Shaw and Irony) at school for English dept and now I'm going to have to go look up fancy words, nuances and see if there's any irony in the fact I wrote it without understanding fancy words and nuances. Shaw would have liked the irony and eschewed the fancy words and nuances but they would have been implied in his plays is what I think I'll find out when I look them up.

Yeah that sounds like a double irony maybe even a triple? Did you study Oscar Wilde? - grand master that bloke was and Churchill wasn't bad either.
